Munster, IN – Pet owners in the region can take advantage of a free microchipping event on March 22 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Munster Fire Department Station #2, located at 550 Fisher Street.
According to the Munster Fire Department, the event is open to all pet owners, with no jurisdiction restrictions. Dogs must be leashed, and cats must be in carriers. Only one puppy per litter will be microchipped, and there is a limit of three pets per household. Pets must be at least six weeks old to receive a microchip.
The event, organized in partnership with Silverstray, aims to help pet owners keep their animals safe. Microchipping is a permanent form of identification that can significantly increase the chances of a lost pet being reunited with its owner.
Donations collected during the event will go toward pet families in Gary, IN. Those interested in attending or with questions about the event can contact Silverstray at 574-806-2810.
