Lake County, IN – Schererville Police Seek SUV in Road-Rage Shooting Sunday

Schererville, IN – Police in Lake County are asking for the public’s help identifying a driver involved in a road-rage incident in which a victim was battered and a shot was fired, according to the Schererville Police Department.

According to investigators, officers responded around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025, to the intersection of Old Lincoln Highway and Sunset Boulevard after reports of an altercation that escalated into gunfire. Police say the suspect allegedly battered the victim before firing a shot. No injuries from the gunfire were reported.

Detectives have released an image of the suspect vehicle, believed to be a 2017–2024 Ford Expedition. According to police, the SUV has a roof rack, chrome wheels, no front tinted windows, and a chrome strip along both sides. The vehicle may also have minor rear-end damage. It is not yet known what state the license plate is from.

Police described the suspect as a white male, approximately 40–50 years old, 5’8″ to 5’10”, balding, with a medium to heavy build. According to the department, the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous, and the public is urged not to approach him.
