East Chicago, IN – A man is dead, and a woman is in serious condition following a suspected domestic-related shooting on Euclid Avenue in East Chicago. Officers responded to the incident at approximately 8:15 a.m. after receiving a report that a male subject had shot his niece outside her home.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two gunshot victims in front of 4928 Euclid Avenue. The male subject was found unresponsive on the front lawn with a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Nearby, a female victim was located with a gunshot wound to the face. She was transported to a Chicago-area hospital, where she remains in serious condition.
According to the East Chicago Police Department, preliminary investigations suggest that the incident was a domestic-related, attempted murder-suicide. The names of the victim and suspect have not yet been released, pending family notification. The Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force has been called to assist in the ongoing investigation.
