Hobart, IN – Emergency crews responded to a serious car versus motorcycle crash Saturday evening that left a 17-year-old male critically injured, according to the Hobart Fire Department.

Firefighters and medics provided emergency treatment for the teen, who sustained significant chest trauma at the scene. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted by Lutheran Air to a regional trauma center for advanced care.

The Portage Fire Department assisted on scene, helping to stabilize the victim and secure the landing zone for the medical helicopter. Photos shared by Hobart Fire show firefighters working under emergency lights as crews coordinated the air evacuation.

Officials said the crash involved a passenger vehicle and motorcycle, though details about the cause of the collision have not yet been released. The incident remains under investigation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the young man, his family, and everyone involved,” Hobart Fire officials said, thanking partner agencies for their teamwork during the emergency response.
