Lowell, IN – A deadly crash between two semi-trucks shut down part of a major intersection in Lake County this morning.

A semi-truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision at the intersection of Route 2 and Union Street in Lowell, Indiana.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, officers responded to the crash at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Friday. Emergency responders arrived shortly after and confirmed that one of the semi drivers had died at the scene. The other driver’s condition has not been disclosed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not released the identities of those involved.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area as road closures and traffic delays are expected while the investigation continues. No timetable for reopening has been given at this time.

Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. stated that further information will be shared as it becomes available.
