Highland, IN – A 47-year-old man from Highland has been identified as the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early Wednesday morning, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Officials say the crash happened around 5:01 a.m. on November 5, 2025, near 9228 Indianapolis Boulevard. The victim, identified as Theodore McSwine, was pronounced dead at 5:58 a.m. by a Lake County Coroner’s investigator.
According to the coroner’s report, McSwine was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The cause of death remains under investigation pending autopsy results. Authorities have classified the case as a single motor vehicle accident, with the manner of death still being determined.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office stated that the forensic autopsy was conducted later that morning at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point. Agencies assisting in the investigation include the Highland Police Department, Highland Fire Department, and the South County Accident Reconstruction Team.
No additional details on the cause of the crash have been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
