Beach Park, IL – Two 17-year-old teens from Beach Park were taken into custody Saturday night after allegedly fleeing from Lake County Sheriff’s deputies during a high-speed chase that ended in Zion.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 7:40 p.m. on October 4, 2025, when a deputy clocked a Toyota Camry traveling nearly 80 MPH in a 40 MPH zone on Sheridan Road near Beach Park. The driver allegedly turned off the car’s headlights and taillights while attempting to evade deputies before stopping in the 3300 block of Sheridan Road in Zion.

Deputies say the driver was quickly detained, but a passenger fled on foot. The fleeing passenger—a 17-year-old male from Beach Park—was apprehended after a short pursuit. Deputies allegedly found a pistol with an extended magazine tucked in his waistband.

The passenger was petitioned to juvenile court on charges of aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of cannabis, and underage possession of alcohol. He was transported to the Hulse Juvenile Detention Facility for a detention hearing.

The driver was also petitioned to juvenile court for aggravated fleeing, reckless driving, and speeding, among other violations, and was later released to a parent. Deputies are also investigating a Dodge Dakota believed to have been traveling with the Toyota and fled the area.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
