Beach Park, IL – Two Beach Park siblings are facing felony charges after authorities allege they lied to investigators about their roles in a car crash, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a statement from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, crash investigators determined that Jordan Ricks, 29, and his sister, Asia Ricks, 23, both of Beach Park, allegedly provided false information following a crash involving a Kia and a motorcycle near their West Yorkhouse Road residence. Authorities allege Jordan Ricks claimed to be the driver, while Asia Ricks falsely stated she was only a passenger at the time of the crash.

Investigators said physical evidence and Asia Ricks’ injuries did not match her account of events, nor did her story align with evidence found inside the vehicle during a post-crash inspection. Investigators also determined that the crash took place near the siblings’ home and that Jordan Ricks arrived on scene after the incident occurred, not while driving the vehicle.

The investigation revealed the siblings allegedly fabricated their stories because Asia Ricks was likely under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and did not want to be held responsible for her actions, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The case was presented to the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, which approved a charge of obstruction of justice. On July 23, 2025, a Lake County Grand Jury returned a true bill of indictment, and a direct indictment warrant was issued by a Lake County Judge. Both individuals surrendered at the Lake County Jail on July 28 and appeared in court the same day. They are due back in court on August 28, 2025, for arraignment.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
