Lake County IL: Route 41 Arrests Involving Wisconsin Man Fleeing Stolen Car

Lake County, IL – Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested three individuals for allegedly possessing loaded firearms and fleeing a stolen vehicle.

According to Lake County Sheriff’s police reports, on July 5, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., deputies responded to the 42400 block of North Route 41 in Wadsworth, IL, for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, deputies gathered information from a witness who reported seeing three individuals fleeing from the vehicle into nearby woods. The 911 Emergency Telecommunicators relayed the description to responding deputies.

Deputies spotted the suspects attempting to enter an SUV and conducted a traffic stop. They identified the trio as Marcus Smith, 19, of Zion; Trashaun King, 18, of Round Lake; and Barion Mhoon, 18, of Kenosha, Wisconsin. According to the sheriff’s office, all three were allegedly armed with loaded firearms.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office charged the suspects with four counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm. They appeared in First Appearance Court on Saturday and are held pending detention hearings on July 9.
