Lake Villa, IL – Lake Villa residents are being warned about an increase in home repair scams this summer. Scammers are targeting homeowners with offers of low-cost repairs, often citing leftover materials or goodwill as reasons for the discounts.

According to the Lake Villa Police Department, these scammers deliver subpar or incomplete work and then demand more money. Residents are advised to watch for unsolicited offers, too-good-to-be-true deals, high-pressure tactics, upfront payment demands, and lack of proper credentials.

Police recommend verifying credentials, obtaining multiple quotes, checking reviews, avoiding upfront payments, and reporting suspicious activity to the Lake Villa PD at 847-356-6106.
