Lake County, IL – A Lake County man is facing multiple felony charges after sheriff’s deputies allegedly found a battered woman and later seized firearms and ammunition from his home following a violent altercation in unincorporated Mundelein.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded Friday night to a report of a woman found injured in the roadway near West Vernon Ridge Drive. Deputies and paramedics reportedly discovered the victim, who had been bruised and battered, and learned she had lost consciousness after allegedly being punched and choked by Lenny W. Weston, 50, of Mundelein. When the woman regained consciousness, she exited the home and was found by a good Samaritan who called 911.
Authorities said deputies were unable to locate Weston that evening, but on Saturday afternoon, an alert sheriff’s deputy spotted him driving near Route 60 and Saunders Road in Lake Forest. Weston was taken into custody during a traffic stop and booked for allegedly battering the victim the previous day.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges of aggravated domestic battery involving strangulation (Class 2 Felony) and two counts of domestic battery (Class A Misdemeanors). During the investigation, deputies learned Weston allegedly possessed firearms at his residence despite being a convicted felon. This led to a firearm restraining order and a search warrant.
On Monday, July 22, sheriff’s deputies conducted the search, allegedly recovering two firearms with extended magazines and approximately 230 grams of cannabis near the weapons. According to officials, Weston now faces additional felony charges for unlawful possession of weapons by a felon and unlawful possession of cannabis.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office said Weston remains held at the Lake County Jail pending his next court appearance on July 31, 2025.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
