Zion, IL – A two-car crash at 9th Street and Green Bay Road left one person dead and another seriously injured late Sunday.
Police said the accident occurred around 10:03 p.m. when a gray 2023 Chevrolet Corvette entered the intersection without yielding. The car, driven by a 65-year-old man, collided with a white 2024 Cadillac 350T heading southbound. A 60-year-old man was driving the Cadillac.
The force of the collision ejected the Corvette driver from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported the Cadillac driver to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Witness statements and evidence indicate the Corvette failed to stop at a posted sign. Zion police and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating the crash.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved. Police have urged drivers to approach intersections with caution and obey traffic signs.
