Gurnee, IL – A fatal pedestrian crash on April 2, 2025, has left a 33-year-old woman dead after being struck by a vehicle near Delany Road and Sunset Avenue in Gurnee. The crash occurred around 8:00 PM, with the woman found unresponsive at the scene and later pronounced dead by authorities.
Initial reports suggested that the incident might have been a hit-and-run, but further investigation clarified that the driver of the Ford E450 truck involved had pulled off the roadway immediately after the crash. The driver cooperated with law enforcement during the investigation.
The Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called in to assist with the probe, and the road was closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene. The Lake County Coroner’s Office is scheduled to conduct an autopsy on Thursday to determine the cause of death.
