Wadsworth, IL – A three-vehicle crash in Wadsworth late Saturday night resulted in one fatality and several serious injuries, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 10:15 p.m. Saturday to a collision on West Russell Road at Frontage Road. Investigators allege that a 2020 Porsche Macan, driven by a 58-year-old Addison man, was traveling westbound when it failed to stop at a stop sign, striking a 2016 Chevrolet Volt at a high rate of speed. The impact forced the Chevrolet into a 2020 Mercedes-Benz, which was also stopped at the intersection.

Authorities say a 33-year-old Niles woman, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet, was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries but later died. The 35-year-old Niles man driving the Chevrolet and a 4-year-old girl, also a passenger, were reportedly hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Mercedes-Benz driver, a 37-year-old Rolling Meadows woman, and her passenger, a 40-year-old man from Schaumburg, were also taken to the hospital for serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The Porsche driver was hospitalized as well.

Sheriff’s officials allege that speed and alcohol impairment were factors in the crash, and criminal charges are expected against the Porsche driver following his release from the hospital.

The crash remains under active investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
