Lake County, IL – Deputies Arrest Man for Alleged Hostage Situation, Animal Cruelty

Beach Park, IL – A Beach Park man was apprehended by Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies after allegedly holding the mother of his child hostage and killing her dog.

According to Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call on Sunday morning at a residence in Wadsworth. The suspect, Adrian Rivera, 40, allegedly forced the victim to drive to the location under duress, armed with a knife.

Deputies intercepted the vehicle near Lewis Avenue and Wadsworth Road, rescuing the victim and her child. Further investigation revealed Rivera had previously battered the woman and killed her dog. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated domestic battery and animal cruelty. Rivera is due in court today.
