Wadsworth, IL – A 68-year-old man from Wadsworth was critically injured Friday afternoon after a motorcycle crash on Route 173 east of Route 41, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 1:10 p.m. on October 3, 2025, following reports of a car versus motorcycle collision. Sheriff’s officials said bystanders used a belt as a tourniquet on the man’s leg before emergency crews arrived. The Harley-Davidson operator was later taken to an area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

According to investigators, the Harley-Davidson was heading west on Route 173 when a Nissan Rogue, driven by a 38-year-old woman from Muskego, Wisconsin, turned left into the Van Patton Woods Forest Preserve—directly into the motorcycle’s path. The motorcycle struck the side of the Nissan, throwing the rider and causing severe leg injuries.

The Nissan driver was uninjured and is cooperating with authorities. Deputies say no citations have been issued as of Saturday, and the crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
