Beach Park, IL – A masked man wielding a knife robbed a Beach Park fast-food restaurant Thursday night before fleeing on foot, according to law enforcement officials.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 7:35 p.m. to the 38900 block of North Lewis Road after receiving a report of an armed robbery. Two employees inside the restaurant told deputies that a man entered, displayed a knife and demanded cash. Neither worker was injured during the encounter.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned man, possibly in his late 20s to mid-30s. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes and a surgical mask during the robbery. After obtaining money from the register, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
Sheriff’s deputies deployed a canine unit that picked up a scent trail leading to a nearby parking lot. Authorities believe the man may have entered a vehicle to escape the area.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and is asking anyone with information to contact them at www.lakecountyil.gov/sheriff or Lake County Crime Stoppers at www.lakecountycrimestoppers.org.
