Gary, IN – Lake County authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a 63-year-old man on Calhoun St. in Gary, Indiana. The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Joseph Harris, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds early Saturday.
Deputies from the coroner’s office arrived at the scene at 6:30 a.m., confirming Harris’ death by 7:20 a.m. His family later made a positive identification at the Lake County Forensic Science Center in Crown Point, where an autopsy is set for Monday.
The Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit, along with the Gary Police Department and CSI, are conducting a thorough investigation. The incident has been ruled a homicide, though no further details about suspects or motives have been released.
