Lake County, FL – A Lake County woman received an unexpected visitor Thursday evening when a 6-foot alligator appeared at her front door, prompting a call to deputies for help.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a report from the woman stating the alligator was blocking her front porch area. Deputies arrived quickly and located the reptile, which had positioned itself near the entrance of the home.

Body camera footage released by the sheriff’s office shows deputies carefully approaching and attempting to corral the alligator. The animal managed to slip through a gate and into the backyard, but deputies followed and were eventually able to restrain and relocate it safely.

Officials noted that this type of call is not uncommon in Florida, particularly during warmer months when alligators may wander into residential areas. “Not our first call like this… but it’s always a Florida classic,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a statement shared on social media.

No injuries were reported, and the alligator was safely removed without harm. Authorities are reminding residents to contact local wildlife officials or law enforcement if they encounter similar situations, and to avoid attempting to handle wildlife on their own.
