Lake County, FL – A Leesburg man has been indicted on first-degree murder and firearm charges in a 2026 fatal shooting, prompting continued legal proceedings and public safety attention.
According to the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office, a grand jury returned an indictment against 43-year-old Matthew Pasco of Leesburg in connection with the death of 36-year-old Shawn Cyriacks.
Prosecutors allege Pasco committed murder in the first degree with a firearm, described as premeditated under Florida law. He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The indictment states that on or about April 17, 2026, Pasco allegedly discharged a firearm, causing Cyriacks’ death.
Officials said the grand jury determined there was sufficient evidence to formally charge Pasco. The case stems from what authorities previously described as a shooting during a dog attack incident, though details surrounding the circumstances remain under investigation.
Pasco is currently being held at the Lake County Detention Facility without bond, according to officials. Assistant State Attorney Nicholas Camuccio is assigned to prosecute the case.
The State Attorney’s Office said it will continue pursuing accountability through the legal process while emphasizing public safety enforcement.
The case may be of interest to local residents and commuters in the Leesburg area as proceedings move forward through the court system.
