Libertyville, IL – Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Friday night after a knife attack at a Libertyville motel. Deputies responded to a fight around 10:05 p.m. at the 31200 block of North Route 45. They found a 31-year-old male victim with minor injuries.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, Javier Moran, 54, had been drinking with acquaintances. Moran allegedly became argumentative and was asked to leave. Shortly after, he returned armed with a knife and attempted to stab the victim. The victim deflected the attack but suffered hand injuries. A physical altercation followed, ending with Moran subdued by the victim and another person.
The victim declined medical treatment, while Moran was hospitalized for minor injuries sustained during the altercation. Authorities later charged Moran with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
A petition to detain Moran before trial was filed, and he remains in custody. Court proceedings are ongoing.
