Lake Charles, La. – Scattered thunderstorms are expected across southern Louisiana and southeast Texas Saturday afternoon, especially along and south of Interstate 10, where a stalled frontal boundary is helping fuel storm development. Heat will remain a concern, with afternoon highs in the low 90s and a heat index approaching 100.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, rain chances taper off farther north into central Louisiana and upper southeast Texas, where drier air is filtering in. Winds from the northeast at 5 to 10 mph will bring some relief, but localized downpours could briefly reduce visibility and create slick roads along I-10 from Beaumont to Lafayette.

Cities including Lake Charles, Opelousas, and New Iberia will see the best chance for afternoon showers, while Alexandria and DeRidder are likely to remain mostly dry. Residents planning outdoor activities Saturday should stay alert for rapidly changing conditions and take breaks from the heat.

By Sunday, drier air expands southward, cutting rain chances to 10–20% across the region while keeping highs in the mid-90s. Lower humidity is expected to make for a more comfortable end to the weekend.
