Louisiana – Warm temperatures and limited rainfall are settling in across southwest Louisiana today, continuing a pattern that is doing little to ease growing drought concerns across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, rain chances remain low through the end of the week, generally ranging from 10% to 40%, with total rainfall expected to stay below a quarter inch through Sunday. That amount is not enough to significantly improve ongoing drought conditions.
In Lake Charles, highs will consistently reach the upper 70s to mid-80s through the weekend. While a few isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop—especially Friday—most areas will remain dry for extended periods.
Road conditions along I-10 and surrounding highways will stay mostly dry, with only brief slick spots possible during isolated showers. However, dry ground and increasing warmth may elevate fire concerns in grassy or rural areas.
Rainfall deficits across parts of Louisiana are already running several inches below normal this year, and this week’s limited precipitation will not provide meaningful relief.
Winds remain light to occasionally breezy, particularly by the weekend, with gusts near 20 to 25 mph at times, adding to drying conditions.
Looking ahead, the pattern stays warm into early next week, with highs pushing into the mid-80s and continued limited rain chances.
