Lake Charles, La. – Southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana are getting a brief taste of cooler, late-summer air, but the break won’t last long. Temperatures are running about five degrees below normal this weekend, with highs staying in the mid-80s and overnight lows dipping into the 50s and low 60s in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, stronger northeast winds will develop over the Gulf on Monday, bringing gusts up to 25 knots and seas as high as six feet. Mariners are advised to use caution, as conditions could remain rough into Tuesday before calming by midweek.
On land, the dry and clear stretch continues through Tuesday with little to no rain expected. Afternoon highs will steadily climb back into the upper 80s and low 90s by Wednesday, with Thursday pushing closer to the mid-90s. Cities like Alexandria, Beaumont, and Lafayette will all see the quick warmup, with Lake Charles itself expected to top 92°F by Thursday.
The cooler mornings will fade by midweek as humidity and summer heat return. More advisories could be issued if winds or coastal impacts increase.
