Lake Charles, Louisiana – A Wind Advisory and Coastal Flood Advisory will impact Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana on Wednesday, bringing 35 mph wind gusts and minor coastal flooding along I-10 and LA-82.
According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday for portions of southwest and south-central Louisiana and southeast Texas. South winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph.
The gusty winds may blow around lightweight outdoor objects and create difficult travel conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles on Interstate 10, Interstate 49 and elevated roadways.
In addition, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. through 11 p.m. Wednesday for coastal southeast Texas and coastal southwest Louisiana. Tide levels between 1.5 and 2.0 feet above mean higher high water are expected. Minor to locally moderate coastal flooding could affect low-lying roads, parks and lots, with isolated road closures possible near LA-82, TX-87 and vulnerable coastal routes around Cameron and Sea Rim State Park.
Forecasters also noted warmer temperatures and rising dew points through the end of the week. Highs Wednesday are expected in the mid to upper 70s, with low rain chances until a weak cold front brings a 20 to 50 percent chance of showers Friday.
Drivers, especially commuters and coastal workers, should use caution during peak travel hours as winds and high tides may impact exposed roadways.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and monitor updates from the National Weather Service for any changes to advisories.
