Lake Charles, Louisiana — Calm and dry weather will provide favorable conditions across southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas as residents celebrate New Year’s Eve tonight and welcome New Year’s Day.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, temperatures will warm into the lower to mid-50s this afternoon under clear skies and light south winds, following a chilly start to the day. New Year’s Eve evening conditions are expected to remain pleasant, with temperatures falling into the mid-40s by 9 p.m. and 41–45 degrees around midnight.

Overnight lows will dip into the upper 30s to lower 40s by early New Year’s Day morning, including Lake Charles (around 41°), Lafayette (low 40s), Alexandria (upper 30s), and Beaumont (low 40s). No rain is expected, with precipitation chances at 0% through the night.

Major travel routes including I-10, I-210, US-171, US-90, and US-165 are expected to remain dry and clear, with no fog, ice, or storm-related hazards anticipated. Conditions are favorable for late-night travel and outdoor celebrations, including fireworks.

On New Year’s Day (Thursday), temperatures will rebound into the lower to mid-60s with continued dry weather and light winds, marking a mild and quiet start to 2026.
