Lake Charles, LA – A cold front moving through southwest Louisiana today will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms before cooler, drier air settles in by midweek, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Lake Charles.
Forecasters said storms will develop along and ahead of the front this afternoon into the evening, with rain chances peaking between noon and 6 p.m.. While isolated thunderstorms are possible, rainfall totals are expected to be light and unlikely to ease ongoing drought conditions across the region.
Highs today will reach the upper 70s to low 80s, followed by a noticeable drop in temperatures tonight as the front moves east. Clear skies and pleasant fall conditions are expected Wednesday and Thursday.
The NWS added that another, more significant rain event may develop late Friday into Saturday, bringing better potential for meaningful rainfall heading into the weekend.
