Crown Point, IN – The Lake County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency has issued a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at midnight tonight through 9 a.m. Sunday, warning residents to expect 2 to 4 inches of snow and slippery travel conditions into the morning commute.

According to the alert, the advisory includes Lake and Porter Counties in Indiana, as well as Eastern Will, Grundy, and Southern Will Counties in Illinois. Snow will move in late tonight and continue through early Sunday before tapering off by mid-morning.

Officials caution drivers to slow down and use extra care on area highways and secondary roads, where slick and snow-covered conditions are expected. Visibility may briefly be reduced during heavier bursts of snow.

Motorists can check the latest travel information through GettingAroundIllinois.com and 511in.org for updates on road conditions.

The National Weather Service urges residents to give themselves extra travel time Sunday morning and to clear snow from vehicles before heading out.
