Los Angeles, CA – Drivers heading into the Ventura and Los Angeles County mountains this morning are seeing winter conditions as a pair of Winter Weather Advisories remain active through Friday. The National Weather Service warns of moderate snow, gusty winds, and slippery roads affecting high-elevation routes in both regions.

According to the National Weather Service, the Northern Ventura County Mountains will see 3 to 6 inches of snow above 6,000 feet and 1 to 3 inches between 4,000 and 6,000 feet. East winds may gust between 30 and 45 mph, creating reduced visibility at times. The advisory here remains in effect until 10 a.m. Friday.

Farther east, the Western and Eastern San Gabriel Mountains—including the Highway 14 corridor, Angeles Crest Highway, Mount Baldy, Wrightwood, Acton, and Mill Creek—are under an advisory through 4 p.m. Friday. Snow totals of 3 to 6 inches are expected above 6,000 feet, with localized amounts near 8 inches. Lower elevations between 4,000 and 6,000 feet may see 1 to 3 inches.

According to forecasters, the hazardous conditions could affect the Friday morning commute, especially across the higher passes and canyon routes. Wind gusts are likely to make travel more difficult, with chain controls possible depending on accumulation rates.

Additional light snow may continue into Saturday across both mountain ranges. The National Weather Service notes that advisories could be extended if snowfall intensifies beyond current expectations.

Drivers should slow down, carry tire chains, and check statewide road conditions by calling 511 before traveling into the mountains.
