La Salle, IL – The La Salle Police Department announced the results of its Halloween safety enforcement campaign, which led to 13 total citations for various traffic and safety violations.
According to Sgt. Ray Gatza with the La Salle Police Department, the fall campaign was part of a statewide effort to reduce impaired and unsafe driving during the Halloween period. From October 18 through November 1, officers issued three citations for seat belt and child safety seat violations, along with 10 additional citations for speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and expired registration.
Police said the initiative supported the Illinois “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” programs, both coordinated through the Illinois Department of Transportation. Law enforcement across Illinois participated to keep roads safer during a time when unbuckled and impaired crashes tend to increase.
The department emphasized that extra attention was given to nighttime patrols, when the risk of impaired driving and serious injury crashes is highest.
Funding for the enforcement campaign was provided through federal highway safety grants from IDOT.
