La Porte County, IN – A Kingsford Heights couple died in a motorcycle crash on US 35 after their vehicle veered off the road and into landscaping Sunday afternoon.
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded at 1:10 p.m. to the 3400 block of US 35. A 2012 Can-Am Spyder, driven by Steven A. Dabney, 58, left the east side of the road near the 3500 north block for unknown reasons. The motorcycle crossed a lawn, collided with a tree and landscaping, and continued off-road, striking boulders before coming to a stop in a vegetable garden.
Both Dabney and his passenger, Anna M. Thomas, 59, were ejected from the vehicle. Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene, while Dabney was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, with toxicology tests pending.
