La Porte County, Indiana – A traffic stop attempt early Wednesday escalated into a high-speed pursuit across two counties, prompting law enforcement intervention.

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Matt Buell was traveling westbound on U.S. 30 around 12:29 a.m. when he observed an eastbound vehicle allegedly traveling above the posted 60 mph speed limit. Radar reportedly measured the vehicle at 110 mph.

Authorities said the vehicle continued east on U.S. 30, passed County Road 450 West, then turned south on County Road 250 West before traveling west on County Road 35, south on County Road 250 North, east on Range Road, and east on State Road 8 into Stark County.

Assisting officers deployed tire deflation devices on State Road 8. The vehicle eventually stopped in the 2300 north block of County Road 325 East in Stark County.

The driver was taken into custody and identified as 22-year-old Logan B. Fletcher of Knox. He was transported to the La Porte County Jail and arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony, and reckless driving, a Class C misdemeanor.

Authorities said Fletcher was later released after posting cash bond.

Arrests and criminal charges are allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Overnight pursuits can impact early-morning commuters and shift workers traveling along U.S. 30 and surrounding county roads.
