Authorities say Velez-Angulo fled on foot across multiple lanes of traffic after being asked to exit the vehicle. A perimeter search recovered two vacuum-sealed packages believed to contain narcotics.
Indiana State Police assisted in locating and apprehending Velez-Angulo near the 61-mile marker. He now faces multiple charges, including two counts of Level 2 felony dealing in a narcotic drug and misdemeanor resisting law enforcement. He is being held in the La Porte County Jail on a $50,005 cash-only bond.
