La Porte, IN – A late-night crash in La Porte led to an arrest on three counts of Operating While Intoxicated after a vehicle overturned Sunday night, according to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities reported the incident began around 11:04 p.m. on Pine Lake Avenue near Waverly Road, when Sergeant Gabe Struss spotted a southbound vehicle traveling more than 60 mph in a 35 mph zone. According to officials, radar confirmed the speed.

After turning to follow, Sergeant Struss said the driver did not slow down, even with emergency lights and sirens activated. Near Newport Boulevard, the vehicle allegedly veered left of center, struck an impact attenuator, went airborne, and landed on its roof in the northbound lane.

Deputies identified the driver as 23-year-old Liliana C. Magana of La Porte. According to police, Magana was taken to a local hospital for a certified chemical test and medical clearance before being transported to the La Porte County Jail. She faces three counts of OWI and is being held on a $905 cash-only bond through Superior Court III.

Assisting at the scene were La Porte Police, Captain Jeff Wright, Deputies Shayne Landry and Michael Sweet, and Hemi Auto and Towing.
