La Crosse, Wisconsin – Snow will begin falling late Friday across southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa, bringing slick travel and whiteout conditions through Sunday morning. Drivers along I-90, US-52, and nearby county roads should prepare for snow-covered pavement and low visibility throughout Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, the heaviest snow rates are expected Saturday afternoon and evening, with accumulations heaviest along the I-90 corridor stretching from Rochester, Minnesota through La Crosse and toward Tomah. Travel could become extremely hazardous, especially during peak snowfall.
Road crews are expected to be active, but snowfall intensity may overwhelm plows at times. Motorists should check 511 services or state DOT updates before leaving, and consider postponing non-essential travel, particularly Saturday afternoon into late evening.
Drivers should also prepare emergency supply kits with blankets, water, chargers, and traction aids like sand or kitty litter. Vehicles should be winter-ready, with full fuel tanks, working wipers, and good tire tread.
This snowstorm exits the region by early Sunday, but slick roads may linger into the morning. More advisories could follow if snow totals increase or strong winds develop overnight.
