La Crosse, WI – A winter storm system is expected to move through the Upper Midwest on Saturday and Saturday night, bringing measurable snowfall and travel impacts to the region, according to the National Weather Service in La Crosse.
Snow will begin Saturday afternoon, spreading east across southern Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and northeast Iowa. Forecasters say there is a 60–90% chance of at least 2 inches of snow, with the highest accumulations likely across northeast Iowa. Areas south of I-90 could see up to 4 inches in localized spots.
Travel conditions may deteriorate Saturday evening due to reduced visibility and slick roads. The weather service urges drivers to allow extra time and check road conditions before traveling, particularly if driving through areas near Decorah, Prairie du Chien, or La Crosse.
The snow is expected to taper off by early Sunday morning, with temperatures remaining below freezing through the weekend.
