La Crosse, Wisconsin – Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected to continue into next week, with highs climbing into the 50s across parts of the Upper Mississippi River Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, areas without significant snowpack — mainly south of I-94 — could see highs around 50 degrees through early next week. The warmest days are forecast Monday and Tuesday, when temperatures are projected to reach the mid-50s. There is a 10% to 20% chance some communities south of I-90 could briefly touch 60 degrees.
Locations farther north, where snow cover remains deeper, are expected to stay in the 40s — still well above seasonal averages for mid-February.
The forecast remains dry through the first half of the week before a stronger weather system arrives midweek. While confidence in the exact track remains low, forecasters say the primary snow impacts with that system currently appear more likely north of I-94. Additional rounds of rain and snow are possible toward the end of the week.
Communities along I-90, I-94, US-52 and US-61 should monitor changing conditions as the midweek system develops.
For students and commuters, early week travel conditions are expected to remain favorable before precipitation chances increase by midweek.
