La Crosse, WI – The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office is inviting residents to safely dispose of expired or unused medications during the upcoming Drug Take Back Event on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the drop-off will take place at the La Crosse County Health and Human Services building. The event is free, anonymous, and open to the public, offering a secure way to prevent prescription misuse and protect the environment.
Residents can bring prescription and over-the-counter medications, including ointments, patches, inhalers, non-aerosol sprays, creams, and pet medications. Vape pens and e-cigarette devices are also accepted if batteries are removed. Items such as needles or sharps are not permitted.
Officials emphasize that disposing of medications through take-back programs helps reduce the risk of accidental poisoning, drug misuse, and water contamination caused by improper disposal methods.
“This is a simple way for residents to help keep our homes and community safe,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
For more information, residents can contact the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office or visit their official social media pages for event details.
