La Crosse, WI – The National Weather Service in La Crosse has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for southern Wisconsin through 8 a.m. Sunday, warning of visibility reduced to one-quarter mile or less, especially along and south of U.S. Highway 18.
Meteorologists say fog is thickest across Prairie du Chien, Platteville, and the Dubuque area, while conditions remain patchier to the north near La Crosse and Rochester. With temperatures near or below freezing, slick spots may form on bridges, overpasses, and other elevated surfaces.
Drivers are urged to use low beam headlights, slow down, and leave extra following distance until fog lifts later this morning. Visibility may fluctuate rapidly, especially in rural valleys and along rivers.
Conditions are expected to improve quickly after sunrise as temperatures rise and winds help disperse the fog. Travelers heading across southern Wisconsin and into northeast Iowa should remain alert for sudden drops in visibility through early morning.
