La Crosse, WI – A wintry mix of snow and rain will move into western Wisconsin early Saturday, bringing the area’s first light accumulation of the season and potential travel impacts by evening.

According to the US National Weather Service La Crosse, snow will begin Saturday morning and continue into the afternoon, occasionally mixing with rain. Accumulations will be generally under ½ inch, but a few spots near and south of I-90 could see up to 1 inch or slightly more, depending on the storm’s track.

While snowfall totals will remain light, roads could turn icy Saturday night, especially on untreated bridges, overpasses, and elevated surfaces as temperatures drop below freezing. Visibility may also briefly decrease during heavier bursts of snow.

The weather service estimates a 5–30% chance for measurable snow accumulations of one inch or more. Motorists are urged to monitor forecasts and ensure vehicles are winter-ready, including having scrapers, blankets, and emergency kits on hand.

Conditions will improve Sunday as the system exits and drier weather returns.
