La Crosse, Wisconsin – Rain will overspread Wisconsin and southeast Minnesota late Tuesday night, bringing widespread wet roads through Wednesday before temperatures trend cooler heading into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, confidence is highest north of I-94, where rainfall amounts between 0.10 and 0.25 inches are most likely. Rain chances climb to 70 to 90 percent across parts of central and western Wisconsin, including Black River Falls and Eau Claire, late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Farther south toward La Crosse, Viroqua and Prairie du Chien, probabilities range from 30 to 50 percent, while areas near Rochester and Austin, Minnesota sit closer to 20 to 40 percent. A few wet snowflakes could mix in north of I-94 on Wednesday, though little to no accumulation is expected. South of I-90, a rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out.
High temperatures in the 50s early this week will gradually cool closer to seasonal averages by Friday and Saturday.
Drivers should prepare for slick roads during the Wednesday morning commute. Additional updates are expected as rainfall timing becomes more precise.
