
KILGORE, TX – The National Weather Service in Shreveport, Louisiana has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado struck parts of Gregg and Rusk Counties on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, tracking directly south of Kilgore College and through portions of the city.
According to preliminary survey results, the tornado developed around 3:22 p.m. CDT and remained on the ground for approximately seven minutes, producing peak winds of 94 mph. The storm traveled a path of 2.56 miles with a maximum width of 169 yards.
The tornado’s track began west of Kilgore near Industrial Boulevard and continued eastward across Woodlawn Street and Harris Street, narrowly missing the college campus to the south. The NWS reported no injuries or fatalities associated with the storm.
Survey teams identified EF-1 level damage, including uprooted trees, damaged roofs, and downed power lines in the affected neighborhoods.
