Camden, SC – A Kershaw County jury has sentenced a man to 45 years in state prison after a violent 2023 home invasion in downtown Camden that left one homeowner injured and sent police on a rapid pursuit through surrounding neighborhoods.
According to the Camden Police Department, the verdict was delivered Friday, November 7, 2025, convicting Troy Douglas Jenkins of First-Degree Burglary, two counts of Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery in the First Degree, and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.
Authorities said the attack happened on February 19, 2023, when Jenkins forcibly entered a home armed with a knife. Investigators said he attacked the homeowners and demanded money before the husband was able to retrieve a firearm, causing Jenkins to flee down Lyttleton Street.
Police said the victims immediately called 911 and provided a description. Corporal Jordan Sanner arrived within four minutes, spotted Jenkins nearby, and initiated a foot chase through the neighborhood. Officers ultimately detained him on Chestnut Street.
Deputies from the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, including Sgt. Billy Sowell and K9 Koda, assisted in tracking Jenkins’ route. Along the path, deputies recovered stolen cash and a KFC work shirt linked to Jenkins. A nearby resident later found the knife used in the assault under a brush pile and reported it to police.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Solicitors Michael Bradbury and Paul Walton, with investigative support from the Camden Police Department and the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
“This is another great example of the success that comes from working together,” said Police Chief Jack Rushing.
