Kern County, CA – Deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a suspect following a deadly stabbing that occurred early Tuesday morning in east Bakersfield.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 7:00 a.m. on January 11 to the 5200 block of Olive Tree Court after reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite receiving medical aid, the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

Homicide detectives immediately took over the investigation. By approximately 8:00 p.m. that evening, deputies located 46-year-old Paul Parra in the area of Brundage Lane and Chester Avenue. Authorities say Parra was taken into custody without incident and booked on suspicion of homicide.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
