Louisville, KY – Kentucky could see its first snow of the season later this week as colder air sweeps into the region, following rain and thunderstorms early in the week. The National Weather Service predicts a mix of rain and light snow beginning Wednesday night, with falling temperatures increasing the likelihood by Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, rain is expected tonight, with thunderstorms possible before Tuesday morning. Highs will reach the low 70s Tuesday, but a strong cold front will bring a sharp temperature drop starting Wednesday. Showers will linger into Thursday, when overnight lows in the mid-30s could support snow showers in some areas, especially along and east of I-65.

Thursday will also bring gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions. Commuters should exercise caution, especially on bridges and elevated roadways, where slick spots may develop. While significant accumulation is not expected, residents are encouraged to monitor forecasts closely as conditions could change.

The five-day outlook shows highs dropping to the mid-40s Friday, with drier but breezy weather to close the week. Temperatures are expected to remain colder-than-average into the weekend, though clearer skies will provide a break from precipitation.

Prepare for changing weather conditions by securing outdoor items and planning for potentially icy roads late Wednesday into Thursday. Stay tuned to local forecasts for updates on Kentucky’s first potential snow event of the season.
