Paducah, KY – The weekend kicks off with heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted for the Paducah area on Saturday, creating a potentially disruptive start to the weekend. Residents are advised to prepare for wet conditions and possible localized flooding in low-lying areas, especially if traveling on major roads like U.S. Highway 60 and I-24. Rainfall amounts could reach over an inch, impacting visibility and road safety.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah, showers and storms will spread across western Kentucky starting Saturday morning, peaking in the afternoon and evening. The highest chance of rain, with a potential for thunderstorms, will occur from Saturday night into early Sunday, with rainfall totals in Paducah projected between 1.15 and 1.5 inches. Rain is expected to gradually diminish from the west on Sunday, with only light showers lingering by afternoon.

Temperatures on Saturday will hover around 70°F, with lows dropping into the upper 50s at night. NWS officials urge residents to monitor weather updates and exercise caution during periods of heavy rain, especially on rural and less-trafficked roads that may experience temporary water pooling.

Despite the stormy start, Veterans Day on Monday is set to offer a sunny respite with highs near 69°F, perfect for outdoor ceremonies and events. Clear skies and mild temperatures are expected to carry into early next week, with a cooler trend and highs in the upper 60s by Tuesday.
