Paducah, KY – Rainy conditions will continue across western Kentucky and the lower Ohio Valley through midweek, offering much-needed relief from recent dry weather, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah.
Forecasters expect 1 to 3 inches of total rainfall between Sunday and Wednesday, with the heaviest amounts likely on Tuesday and Wednesday. Rainfall coverage will be widespread, and though thunderstorms aren’t expected, periods of moderate to heavy rain could lead to ponding on roads and slower travel at times.
Temperatures will stay seasonably cool, with highs ranging from the mid-50s to lower 60s and lows in the 40s to near 50°F through Tuesday. As the rain tapers off midweek, a drier and cooler pattern will take hold.
By Thursday and Friday, skies should clear with daytime highs in the mid-50s and nighttime lows dipping into the upper 30s to low 40s, setting the stage for a chilly but dry Halloween across much of the region.
The NWS notes that this week’s rainfall will bring beneficial moisture to drought-affected areas, helping to improve soil and streamflow conditions before the start of November.
