Paducah, KY – A flood warning remains in effect for Paducah and surrounding areas as the Ohio River continues to rise. The National Weather Service (NWS) reports minor to moderate flooding, with river levels expected to stay high until late Friday before receding over the weekend.
According to the NWS, recent heavy rains have contributed to rising water along the Ohio River from Smithland Dam through Cairo, affecting parts of Illinois, Kentucky, and Missouri. Floodwaters could impact low-lying roads and riverbanks, and officials warn drivers not to bypass barricades. Caution is also urged for those walking near swollen riverbanks.
Friday’s forecast brings sunny skies and a high of 66°F in Paducah, with southwest winds up to 28 mph. Conditions remain mostly clear Friday night with a low of 38°F.
By Saturday, temperatures will reach 50°F under mostly sunny skies, while overnight lows drop to 27°F. Sunday will see cooler conditions, with a high of 47°F and light northeast winds.
Looking ahead, rain returns Monday afternoon, with showers expected into Tuesday alongside a chance of thunderstorms. Highs will reach the mid-60s before another round of cooler temperatures midweek.
Residents should monitor river levels and stay updated on local alerts. For emergency information, visit weather.gov.
