Kentucky – Residents across Kentucky should brace for continued gusty winds and rain heading into St. Patrick’s Day. A wind advisory remains in effect for parts of eastern Kentucky through early Monday morning, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph. Those traveling along I-64, US-23, and other major roadways should prepare for reduced visibility and strong crosswinds.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and isolated thunderstorms will persist through Sunday night into early Monday. By mid-morning Monday, conditions will gradually clear, with highs reaching the low 60s in western Kentucky and the upper 50s in eastern regions. Winds will shift northwest, calming slightly by the afternoon.
Tuesday brings a return to sunny skies, with highs climbing into the low 70s across much of the state. Overnight temperatures will dip into the mid-30s to low 40s. By Wednesday, another round of showers is possible, especially in the eastern portion of the state, with gusty winds once again developing.
Spring officially begins Thursday, March 20, and Kentucky will see a mix of mild temperatures and unsettled conditions. The five-day outlook shows mostly sunny skies Thursday and Friday, with highs in the mid-60s. Rain chances return by Saturday, signaling a wet start to the first weekend of spring.
Motorists should stay updated on road conditions, and residents are encouraged to secure outdoor objects ahead of Monday’s gusty winds.
