Paducah, Ky. – Scattered thunderstorms could drench parts of western Kentucky Saturday afternoon and evening, bringing a low risk of flash flooding, muggy heat and heightened lightning danger to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, thunderstorm chances rise to 50% Saturday with storms expected mainly between 12 p.m. and 9 p.m. Lightning risk is moderate from 10 a.m. through midnight, and humid conditions will push the “muggy meter” to high levels all day. High temperatures will reach between 81–85°F.

Flash flooding remains a minor concern, especially in low-lying areas, with the flood window opening at noon Saturday and lasting until 9 p.m. The threat of severe storms is not expected, but officials urge residents to remain weather-aware due to lightning and downpours. On Sunday, rain chances drop to 20%, but sticky heat continues as highs climb to the upper 80s.

Those with outdoor plans should monitor radar apps, seek shelter during lightning, and stay hydrated. Roads may pond during heavy rainfall Saturday afternoon.

More storms are possible Sunday between 1 and 9 p.m., though coverage will be more isolated. Lightning and muggy conditions will remain a factor into early next week.
